Idris

Idris

After the death of Adam, peace be upon him, his descendants were led by the Prophet Sheth, and Allah revealed many newspapers and teachings to him, then he was succeeded by his fifth grandson, Prophet Idris, peace be upon him, and people lived long lives, and Idris lived with Adam, peace be upon him, and met him.

The first prophet to write with a pen

Idris, peace be upon him, was the first to teach people to write. In Sahih Ibn Habban, the Prophet (peace be upon him) is reported to have said of Idris, peace be upon him: “He was the first to write with the pen.”

Idris - peace be upon him - is one of the honorable prophets and a messenger of God's messengers - peace be upon them - who called his people to worship God alone and do good deeds to save themselves from torment,It is said that he came before Noah - peace be upon him - and the opposite is said, and he is said to be the first to write with a pen. He was familiar with various sciences, including the science of the stars, their course, and the sciences of arithmetic, and he (peace be upon him) was also the first to sew and wear a garment, and Idris (peace be upon him) was mentioned in the Holy Quran in two places; one in which he was described as righteous and patient. The other, God, praise be to Him, showed that He raised him to a high place because he was patient and righteous, and most commentators have said: However, the place to which he was elevated, the reason for the elevation, and the state of Mr. Idris at the time are disputed. The story of the elevation of Mr. Idris The statements of the exegetes varied as to how Mr. Idris (peace be upon him) was elevated, some said: Some of them said: It is a moral elevation indicating his high status and his great position as a prophet sent by God, and others said, which is the opinion held by most of the commentators: They also differed in the degree to which he was raised. Some of them said that he was raised to the sixth heaven: He was raised to the sixth heaven and others said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “When I came to Idris, he said, ‘This is Idris, so greet him.’Ibn Kathir explained that this hadith, which is agreed upon, is more correct.Ibn Hajar mentioned in his book Fath al-Bari that he saw him in the fourth heaven from the Israeli stories that a friend of Idris was a friend of our Lord.

Idris, the third prophet after Adam and Sheth, peace be upon them, was calling people to the law of “Sheth” and adding to it by God's command. When the corruption of the descendants of Cain and their aggression against the believers spread, he legalized jihad, so he was the first to fight in the way of God, and the first totake captives in the way of God, he prepared an army of horses and men and fought the spoilers, defeating them and taking captives from them.

Engineering scientist

Al-Manawi said in Fayd al-Qadir in the explanation of the Prophet's saying about Idris, the first to write with the pen: That is, he wrote and looked into the science of stars and arithmetic.

But it should be known that astronomy is of two types: Some are permissible and some are forbidden.

Shams al-Haqq Abadi said in Awn al-Ma'abud: Al-Khattabi said: The science of the stars that is forbidden is what the astrologers refer to as the knowledge of events and accidents that have not occurred, such as the coming of rain and the change of prices, but what is known about prayer times and the direction of the qibla is not included in what is forbidden.

This science that Idris, peace be upon him, learned may be of this type, and it may be of the other type that is forbidden, but it was permissible in his law and forbidden in ours.

The first tailor in history

Ibn Hajar in Al-Fath quoted Ibn Ishaq as saying: Thefirst person who sewed clothes was Idris, peace be upon him, and in Fayd al-Qadir by al-Manawi, the first person to sew and wear clothes - and they wore leather - was Idris.

The Miracle of Idris, peace be upon him

The miracle of Prophet Idris, peace be upon him, is not clearly defined in traditional texts. Some narrations state that his miracle was to be lifted into the sky. According to some sources, Idris is believed to have been the first to write the pen and learn to navigate by the position of the stars when traveling. His name refers to “lesson,” reflecting his association with education and wisdom. These accounts illustrate his importance in Islamic history, but they do not refer to a specific miracle in the traditional sense of the word as is the case with some of the other prophets

As for Idris, God inspired him: He liked to increase his work, so a fellow angel came to him and said, “God has revealed to me such and such, so speak to the angel of death so that I may increase my work.” He carried him in his wings and ascended to heaven.

When he was in the fourth heaven, the angel of death met him descending, and he spoke to the angel of death about what Idris had spoken to him, and he said, “Where is Idris?” He said, “He is on my back,” and the angel of death said: What a wonder! I was resurrected and told:

"How can Itake Idris' soul in the fourth heaven? How can I take his soul in the fourth heaven when he is on earth? So he took his soul there, and that is the saying of Allah {Almighty and Glorious}.
